Hello critters!
It's been more than a year since my weekend in Scotland but I still got Edinburgh on my mind. Pretty much every day to be honest. I thought I'd share some of my favourite snapshots of the trip and bask in the delightful nostalgia of it all.
First things first, the city of Edinburgh in the middle of autumn, leaves were changing, harmonizing with the surrounding buildings. I stayed in the area of the New Town for most of the day, wandered a bit in the Old Town, and was thoroughly amazed by the architecture.
After a day in the capital, I went on a guided tour of the Highlands. It was downright magical! The first stop was at Loch Lubnaig. In the middle of November, it was so cold up there the mountains on the other side were covered with snow (as pictured below). It was such an unexpected surprise I was as giddy as a kid on Christmas day. I felt that pure enchanting wonder you get from being so completely happy.
Next we visited the valley of Glencoe which was a natural beauty. We rounded up the tour with Loch Ness (last picture) which extends farther than the eye can see. I was overwhelmed with a sense of calmness and gratitude. I wouldn't trade the memory of this day for all the gold in the world.
Considering we're already in December, I'll round this up with a couple pics of Christmas decor to get in the festive mood.
I had wanted to visit Scotland for years and when I saw the opportunity, I seized it without hesitation. A year later, I'm still so glad I did, that weekend made me feel refreshed and more centered. Whenever travelling is safe and possible again, I'm hopping on a plane and heading straight back to Edinburgh for a few days of magical escape!
